The west is the light

A bright, young, American boy is transported across the European centuries by a history book with magical properties. His guide is a Scotsman who serves as mentor and guide. Behind it all is a mysterious, dark-haired young woman who oversees the boy's journey.

Along the way, the boy’s mind and body are transformed as he garners the lessons of his ancestors administered by luminaries, both legendary and historical such as Achilles, Socrates, Julius Caesar, Dante, and many others.

The West Is the Light is a celebration of European culture and civilization, in all of its manifestations, over many centuries. Join Clark on his travels as he learns lessons, both difficult and illuminating, at the feet of both the great and the anonymous.

A young boy sits in his room and opens a book gifted to him by his beloved grandfather. Thus begins our story…

“He feels that the book is a sanctuary from a chaotic world. Here he will read of inventors, explorers, artists, poets, knights, wars, treaties, invasions, plagues, lovers, saints and mystics. Through it all, he senses an indescribable longing, as of a long-lost relative who loved him but who has been forgotten.”

“He has always been a different sort of boy, different from boys his own age.”
